Green Mountain Comic Expo is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, fandom, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, political background, body size, race, religion, etc.
We do not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. This includes, but is not limited to: physical assault, verbal harassment, sexual harassment, stalking, unwanted physical contact, unwanted advances, or inappropriate photography.
*Inappropriate photography is defined as photography where the subject feels they are being stalked, exploited, degraded, or disrespected through being photographed. While it is reasonable that photographers will be photographing costumers and other parts of the convention, should this photography become harassing or sexual in nature, the photographer will be subject to the above harassment policy.
Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any convention venue. Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference (without refund) at the discretion of the convention organizers.
Harassment is defined by the victim. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. If you cannot find a staff, crew, or volunteer member to assist you, please go to the information desks located near registration or near the entrance of the exhibition floor.
Please report incidents before taking matters into your own hands, such as personally confronting the aggressor or posting on social media. We have professional security and they are properly equipped for these contingencies.
The offending individual or group may be:
-Warned to cease and desist;
-Asked to leave the convention, or;
B-anned from the convention for any period of time (without refund).
-Reported to proper authorities. Furthermore, GMCE officials will comply and aid in any investigations brought forth in relation to criminal activity reported.
Exhibitors in the expo hall, sponsor or vendor booths, or similar activities are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
Participants are expected to follow these rules at all convention venues and convention-related social events.
All weapons and large props must be inspected and approved by our operations or security staff at the convention. Props will be marked with a brightly-colored ribbon which indicates that an item has been inspected and deemed safe. If necessary, staff may use also ties to keep your weapon from being drawn or used.
Attendees must realize that it is a privilege to bring large props and weapons to the convention, and everyone must take great care to be careful not to damage things, strike people, or otherwise do anything that seems dangerous. We allow certain specific prop weapons and large prop items, but anything not listed below is not allowed. We may have to change the rules mid-convention at any time. Safety First!
Guns: Realistic looking guns are only allowed if they have a very bright, obvious orange tip that shows they are non-working. Guns that actually work, have the potential to work, or might be mistaken by the public as real, are not allowed. Toy or fantasy guns that are “obviously fake” are allowed.
Swords are allowed if they can be tied shut in their sheath, or if they are made of wood or plastic. Swords must never be waved around or wielded, but they can be used for still-posed photography.
Bows: Toy, or otherwise wooden or plastic bows can sometimes be okay, but professional or compound bows are not. Equipping an arrow to a bow is absolutely never acceptable, even for photos.
Large Props: Large props are generally okay, if you are extremely mindful of them. However if we find that we have large crowds, or props become otherwise problematic, we may ask you to return them to your hotel room or car at any time. We will not store items for you.
Pretend Weapons: Anything that is entirely obviously a play/pretend weapon that can not be mistaken for something that is actually a real weapon may be allowed.
Any weapons may be disallowed at any time at the discretion of event organizers.
